Studies have found that Ashwagandha helps lengthen telomeres, which decrease in old age and has been linked to many serious diseases. Some scientists claim that longer telomeres ensure a healthier and longer life.

This herb is one of the best-known Rasayana (rejuvenating) aids in Ayurveda. It is one of the few sedative adaptogens and has traditionally been used for anxiety, bad dreams, mild obsessive-compulsive disorder, insomnia and to improve the functioning of the nervous system. Animal experiments have shown good results in destroying various cancer cells.

Ashwagandha root acts as an anti-inflammatory, strengthens the immune system and is very useful in the treatment of fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, mild form of Tourette's syndrome and osteoarthritis. It helps especially well with autoimmune disorders that affect muscles and joints, such as rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, polymyositis and rheumatic polymyalgia. It improves male fertility (increases sperm count and sperm motility) and, thanks to its iron content, helps with anemia. Ashwagandha also stimulates thyroid function. Studies in mice have shown significant increases in T3 (18%) and T4 (111%) hormones after 20 days of use (Panda, 1998).

The recommended amount is 1-2 capsules up to 2 times a day before meals with water.
